YWCA Silicon Valley is on a mission to end violence.
Walk A Mile In Her Shoes
At YWCA's Walk A Mile In Her Shoes, brave men of Silicon Valley walk in women's heels to raise awareness and funds to end violence against women. 2017 was a record-breaking year for YWCA's Walk A Mile In Her Shoes. With the incredible support of our community, we raised over double our fundraising goal and welcomed 5x the amount of walkers we had in 2016!
We know that we can keep this momentum going and can't wait to welcome walkers for an even bigger 2018 WAM event!
Join us on June 20, 2018, to 'walk the walk' to end violence against women. Together, and with the support of the Silicon Valley community, business leaders, athletes, entertainers, professionals, elected officials, educators and students will slip into something 'a little less comfortable' and walk in the International walk to end violence against women.
YWCA Silicon Valley is on a mission to end violence in all of its forms. “Ending violence against women” means ending violence against all individuals who identify as women; regardless of the sex they were assigned at birth.
This includes violence against women who may identify as transgender. Transgender women also encounter bias and violence perpetrated against women. Often times they experience ‘extra’ bias and violence due to their transgender identity. Additionally, non-binary and genderqueer folks are vulnerable to "violence against women" due to their identity posing a threat to the patriarchal structure of a binary gender system. We're looking for 1,100 men in heels, 1 for each sexual assault survivor we will serve this year.Individual registration for Walk A Mile In Her Shoes is $56.00
. Because in California, a sexual assault occurs every 56 minutes. YWCA offers a reduced registration rate of $5.60 for students.
If you are a participating student, please provide proof by bringing valid student ID to the Registration Booth on event day.
